The American Film Showcase (AFS) is a major touring film program bringing American documentaries, feature films and animated shorts to audiences worldwide. AFS is a partnership between the Department of State's Bureau of Educational, Cultural Affairs and USC's School of Cinematic Arts, the International Documentary Association and Film Independent.
Doc U is a series of hands-on educational seminars and workshops for aspiring and experienced documentary filmmakers, taught by artists and industry experts. Participants receive vital training and insight on various topics including fundraising; distribution; marketing; business tactics; and much more.
IDA's all-day, back-to-back screenings of this year's Oscar® nominated documentary films. DocuDay Los Angeles will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Writers Guild of America Theater.
From 1997 through 2012, IDA's DocuWeeks™ Theatrical Showcase helped to qualify outstanding new feature and short documentaries for Academy Award® consideration. During its sixteen year run, 30 films from DocuWeeks™ were nominated for an Academy Award® with 7 winning the Oscar®.
The IDA Documentary Screening Series brings some of the year’s best documentary films to the IDA community and members of industry guilds and organizations. A moderated Q&A with the filmmakers will follow the screenings.
