MUSE Film and Television will launch its fifth annual New York presentation of selections from the Montreal International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA), in collaboration with The Center for Architecture
On Saturday, January 29, the Center will present three films. At 1:00pm, Twice Upon A Garden, directed by Philippe Baylaucq (Québec, Canada), explores in all seasons the magnificent
gardens of Les Jardins de Métis, begun by Elsie Reford in 1923 and which now host an International Garden Festival that draws artists and architects to create imaginative installations each year. Jane Cooke, Executive Director, The New York Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, will introduce the film.
Next, at 2:30pm, Expansive Grounds, directed by Gerburg Rohde-Dahl (Germany), documents the reactions of visitors to the Berlin Holocaust Memorial, designed by Peter Eisenman, as well as her own childhood memories of the war years. After the film, Mr. Eisenman will be present for Q&A and discussion with Rick Bell, FAIA, Executive Director of the Center for Architecture. A reception will follow.
Wrapping up the series, at 5:30pm, Luc Vrolijks, Founder and Principal, Union Progress, will introduce The New Rijksmuseum, directed by Oeke Hoogendijk (Netherlands). The film, which received the Jury Award at FIFA, tracks the troubled progress of the project designed by Spanish architects Antonio Cruz and Antonio Ortiz.
