PaleyDocFest
Event Type:  Festival
10/01/2012
New York, NY

PaleyDocFest runs October 1-24 at the Paley Center for Media in New York City. Here are excerpts from a statement from the festival's curator, Ron Simon.

"We thought the best way to prepare for the presidential election in November was to screen films that provoke discussion about the entire political process, from complex issues that are often dodged on the campaign trail to how the media covers the candidates. We will be both macro, looking at the big picture of an interactive democracy (Let Fury Have the Hour), and meta, dissecting language used to persuade and provoke (Vidal v. Buckley). Election year is a time of national and personal reflection on our dreams and our realities.

A longtime feature of our documentary festival are the lively discussions with the filmmakers. Given the issues that these films represent, this promises to be a particularly engaging year. The conversations can also carry on after the screening at the PaleyDocFest wine bar, which we invite all ticket holders to enjoy.

We hope our PALEYDOCFEST evenings help to bring clarity and substance to voting preferences."
