Our shows and films have premiered on several stations including HBO, Discovery, TLC and A&E. We are storytellers whose work focuses on people. We are in development with Caroline (Carolines Comedy Club) and Lori Cheatle on the feature documentary film WHAT A MOTHER, about relationships between today's comics and their mothers.
We are in production on a personal documentary about the highly charged mother/daughter relationship called MY NOSE: THE BIGGER VERSION. The film follows the transformation of the filmmaker’s relationship with her mother from Mommie Dearest to Dear Mom, from hatred to love, spanning several years. This film was inspired by the success and impact of her award winning short, MY NOSE, about her mother’s quest to get her to have a nose job. We are looking for an editor for this film.
Job Description:
The editor will work closely with the director. The film has been shot over the last 8 years in an intimate style, including hand held by the director. There is archival material, which includes 8 mm home movies, High 8, historical footage and photos. There is 160 hours of footage.
Skills needed:
Strong story telling capabilities and excellent in structure and character development. We are looking for someone who has a sense of humor to her/his editing style. Must be proficient in Final Cut and have your own FCP 7 set up. Experience with After Effects, Final Cut color-correction and mixing tools a plus.
Opportunity:
This is a 6 to 8 month commitment. Several broadcasters here and abroad including HBO are waiting for the rough cut. This is a great opportunity to work with a director with a proven track record and do award winning work. This is a low budget documentary. We love to discover new talent and have launched careers. The film has already attracted a fair amount of press from the Washington Post to the Boston Globe. We are looking to release this first theatrically.
To apply, please email your resume, cover letter, any relevant links to your work and three references to jack@dogamentary.com. Let us know where you learned about this opportunity. We're looking for someone to take charge of audience engagement and media relations, but welcome an interest and participation in the production side as well. Creativity, initiative and independence are high on the list of traits we're looking for. If you're not a seasoned pro, win us over with your drive and creativity. We're open-minded about whether this is full-time, part-time or outside consultant work. Also open-minded about whether this is virtual or you need to show up at our office in Colorado (we do think that would be a plus). Explore our first documentary here: www.growthbusters.org.
