Documentary is seeking an experienced picture editor for feature length doc entitled “Every Three Seconds”. Utilizing experts to frame global issues such as hunger, poverty, and healthcare delivery, “Every Three Seconds” profiles five ordinary people doing extraordinary things to solve these seemingly unsolvable problems.

Our editor will be a strong storyteller who will artfully and seamlessly weave together our five stories with the observations and commentary from our cadre of experts. The editor will work very closely with the director to build film’s structure and tone. Must have extensive experience in Final Cut, AVID, After Effects, etc - and understand HD workflow to output for theatrical release. Film has been shot primarily on DVC-PRO, and XDCAM in HD (1080i/24p). Other auxiliary material will come in on various other formats (DV, mini-DV, etc).
This is a full-time commitment to a 24 week post-production schedule from commencement of post to delivery of HD master.

Summer internship at small LA-based documentary distribution company. Learn the business of independent distribution where you can get your hands dirty. We are a casual, but scrappy and hard-working office. Strong computer/office skills a must. Applicant should be enthusiastic, detail-oriented, punctual, self-starter/team player with a sense of humor. Prefer someone interested in independent film and documentaries. No prior film experience required. Proficient in English. Minimum of 20 hours a week. The internship is unpaid, but we provide lunch and school credit.

Internship available at Wild Life Productions for National Geographic Channel Expedition Week Specials

Wild Life Productions is seeking an intern for Expedition Week specials for National Geographic Channel. Intern will work closely with producers, assistant editor, and writer/director on post-production for one show and pre-production for another.
Duties will be widespread with a focus on assisting the producers during the final edit, sound design, scoring and delivery of one show as well as participating in logging, transcribing, and preparing program deliverables for the network.

In addition, intern will also assist producers in the pre-production phase for a second expedition week show. Responsibilities will include story research, logistics and planning, scheduling, permitting, archival research, as well as assisting in the preparation for narrative re-creations.

Applicants must be willing to take both technical and creative challenges head-on and work as a member of a team. A basic understanding of Final Cut Pro is a major plus.

WLP is a small, boutique production company and Intern will be fully immersed in the ins and outs of how to set up and complete a major production for the non-fiction/reality networks.
This is an unpaid internship but students can receive college credit for their work if they choose and their school obliges. The position begins May 9th and will continue through mid-June.

Producers will generate story ideas for hour-long documentaries and then work alongside fellow production staff and Vanguard correspondents in bringing those ideas to fruition, overseeing everything from pre-pro to post and every step in between.

The successful candidate will have an enterprising spirit and proven track record in documentary film and/or narrative storytelling with a keen interest in and passion for news, both domestic and international. We’re looking for someone who is equally adept in the field and in post. The ideal candidate has superior shooting skills and newsgathering instincts as well as the ability to come back from the field and synthesize source-material into thoughtful, well-constructed narratives. He/she must have a passion for important stories often ignored by other media outlets. You should be bristling with enthusiasm and fresh ideas about what you think Vanguard should be covering.

Languages are a plus, as is experience with Final Cut Pro.
