One thing never changes. No matter how many times I swear I’m going to get a good night’s sleep before I leave for a festival, inevitably I end up packing the night before til the wee hours of the morning. Usually that makes the first day at any film festival kind of hellish, but in the case of CineVegas, I realized that getting used to being up until 3a.m. might be a good strategy.
I’ll be in Vegas from Sat 6/14 – Wed 6/18 as part of the Pioneer Documentaries Jury. This is a new section the festival has added for 2008. The program guide describes the strand as, “A competitive section featuring real-life stories that make us see the world differently...the subjects and stories share the same outlaw spirit as their fictional counterparts.”
Throughout my five days in Vegas, I’ll be giving you the scoop on the goings on at the Palms...because although what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, let’s be honest – it’s so much more fun when you dish about it with your friends.
