The Wild Horse Redemption – This documentary tells an uplifting and visually stunning tale as it goes inside an unusual prison rehab program that pairs volunteer inmates with wild mustangs. Based in southern Colorado, the Wild Horse Inmate Program promotes the patient, gentle techniques of “horse whisperers” in order to tame powerful, dangerous animals who have never known human riders, much less saddles. As it traces the 90 days of hard, rewarding work, the film focuses on a handful of seasoned and rookie trainers, including Anthony, the program’s senior trainer who is about to be paroled; his successor, Jon, a funny, strong-willed repeat offender who faces a formidable challenge in a mustang he names Samson; and Clay, a young man who starts out as a boot cleaner and decides to give training a shot despite his powerful fear of horses.
