Documentary Campus: Virtually Yours! in Krakow, Poland
07/05/2010
2nd Open Training Session 2010
VIRTUALLY YOURS!
5 & 6 June 2010 in Krakow, Poland

Join us for Virtually Yours! and learn more about the opportunities the digital revolution is offering you. Throughout the weekend, Documentary Campus will present exciting panels and case studies with a range of leading European and American experts examining how the digital world is changing the way we promote our ideas and the way we make our films. The event takes place at MANGGHA - Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, ul. Konopnickiej 2 on 5 & 6 June 2010.

You think you finally got it - a good project, a perfect set of flyers and trailers and the know-how to pitch. That is all you need to win attention and interest. But, once again there is something new that makes you feel out-dated and insecure. It is called web promotion, digital storytelling, virtual pitch. Frustrating, isn't it?

Virtually Yours! is an intensive look at the opportunities the digital revolution is bringing us. An easy way to understand things you did not necessarily want to know about. With the best experts you can hope for.

What do you need to do differently if you want to promote your project online? Does a 3-minute trailer for a live pitch also work as a promotional clip on Vimeo or YouTube? Are emails and snail mails of any use now, or must you be on Facebook? Are any of the virtual communities worthwhile? Will the commissioning editors and decisionmakers be looking at them?

Virtually Yours! will attempt to answer the ultimate question: how can you get attention in this digital world where all seems possible but abstract and unclear.

Adam Gee, an award-winning producer and commissioning editor for Channel 4's multiplatform programming will tell us what broadcasters are really looking for and how all this is changing documentary storytelling.

Together with Babelgum's acquisitions chief Andreas Lemos we'll see how online providers have been doing so far. Could digital platforms be your next best friends?

Producer Lizzie Gillett will give us a case study on the production of The Age of Stupid. Using the crowd-funding model and with an innovative distribution system the film has been the talk of the planet since its release in 2009.

Erkko Lyytinen, artistic director of DocPoint Film Festival made a revolutionary marketing strategy and focused on social media. He will share his surprising results with us.
