"The Fire Within" follows the life of Bob Bowers, an AIDS survivor diagnosed in 1983 at the age of 20, who was stricken with the disease due to a one-time decision to share a needle. He met Shawn in 1990 and, in spite of his disease, she married him six months later. The film documents Shawn's participation in an AIDS/LifeCycle's "Ride To End AIDS" week-long bike ride as she tries, in some measure, to replicate Bob's everyday battles and his everyday victories. Gritty, raw and very real, the documentary is not only a film about AIDS, but about thriving - regardless of your circumstances. The film parallels the struggles and fortitude of two incredibly passionate, inspiring and vibrant souls.

The Documentary Channel is primarily available through satellite television services DISH Network (Channel 197) and DIRECTV (Channel 267). Following the network premiere, encore telecasts of "The Fire Within" are scheduled for June 6 (8 p.m. ET/PT), June 23 (3:30 p.m. ET), July 1 (8 p.m. ET/PT), July 7 (5 p.m. ET) and July 27 (3 p.m. ET)
