HBO DOCUMENTARIES - Outrage
Event Type:  Screening
10/05/2009 @ 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm
HBO Documentary Films presents OUTRAGE, debuting MONDAY, OCT. 5 (9:00-10:30 p.m.), exploring the disturbing phenomenon of closeted gay politicians who vote down pro-gay legislation - and get a free pass from the media. Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick (HBO's "Twist of Faith") kicks down the closet door in this searing indictment of politicians with appalling gay-rights voting records who actively campaign against the gay community they reportedly belong to, at least covertly. Probing the hidden lives of some of the country's most powerful policymakers, the documentary examines how these and other politicians may have inflicted damage on millions of Americans by denying the truth about themselves, and voting in ways seemingly at odds with their sexuality. Equally disturbing, the film explores the media's complicity in keeping those secrets, despite the growing efforts to "out" them by gay-rights organizations and bloggers.
