This weekend, Kristopher Belman's More Than a Game opens theatrically in Los Angeles, New York and Ohio. The latter city isn't known for being included in the opening weekend of films in limited release, but it makes perfect sense given that we're talking about "the LeBron James" documentary.

Belman is quick to point out that this is not a film about LeBron James. In his words:

It's about 5 boys from the inner city who use the sport of basketball to form a family, become men, and accomplish their dreams -- all under the guidance of their coach/father figure.

That said, I'm sure he's not too upset about the attention the basketball star has drawn to his film, especially if he can help make it a slam dunk at the box office (sorry, couldn't resist).

For more about the film in Belman's own words, check out October's DOC SHOT, where we get up close and personal with the director.
