THE MISSOURI REVIEW (TMR) AUDIO AND VIDEO COMPETITION - Call for Entries
12/01/2008
Why is a literary magazine sponsoring a video competition?
The postmark deadline for The Missouri Review (TMR) audio & video
competition, with its $4,500 in prize money is Dec. 1.
Filmmakers, why should you enter? Consider our reputation, our mission of
discovering talent, and our association with the creative worlds of
literature and film. Though you may not be familiar with TMR, literary
agents know us well. Over the last few issues, agents have inquired about
many of our emerging writers, including James McLaughlin, Otis Haschemeyer,
Natalie Sears, Elaine Neil Orr, and Bart Skarzynski. Over our 30-plus year
history, many of our authors have had their work adapted to film, including
Raymond Carver, Russell Banks, and Daniel Woodrell. (And our editor Speer
Morgan has had a couple of his novels optioned.) Furthermore, winning
entries will have the opportunity to be screened in the True/False Film Fest
(www.truefalse.org http://www.truefalse.org). And finally, every entrant
receives a one-year subscription to TMR, equal in value to the $24 entry
fee. So enter, be recognized, and be inspired with remarkable writing.
Enter the Documentary category or Creative Short category. Running time for
entries should be 10 minutes or less. Students are also eligible for ³Best
Student Entry.² For guidelines and entry form, please visit
