I am a seasoned video, animation and new media producer and a “project starter”. I have formed numerous companies and global production partnerships based on my production and management skills and my ability to assemble and lead teams of creative and technical talent. My 17-year professional career is rooted in my ability to continually provide innovative solutions and deliver what my clients need. I have excellent client interaction skills, am a creative writer and editor, and have created broadcast and Internet content under the most demanding circumstances. My ability to be “creative” carries over from the digital canvas and editing timeline to directing talent and crew on location and just as strongly to problem solving. I am a team leader and project motivator and have a long track record of success across many industries.
I have owned my own video and multimedia production company since 1991. I have had the tremendous opportunity to create content on many subjects in many industries. I have managed a local production staff of 5 and remote/off-shore teams of dozens of animators and programmers.
As a business owner, I not only managed a talented workforce, I also envisioned the continual evolution of my company. Recognizing the direction various industries are heading is something I constantly am aware of and adjusting to in my day-to-day thought process.
My clients will tell you that I am a creative thinker and a very composed yet driven producer. Most of all, those who have hired me to create original productions for them will tell you they are very happy with my work and the experience of working with me.
I began my career by forming a company called Forensic Media supplying interactive and animated presentations to attorneys, including one of the earliest uses of animation in Iowa litigation. I broke down complex information and created an easy to understand presentation. I became a leading expert in the use of animation in the courtroom, published numerous articles, co-authored multiple books, and developed a presentation on the persuasive power of images that I presented throughout the country. I also conceptualized and produced an interactive training CD called Winning Courtroom Presentations with Multimedia as an instructional aide for attorneys. I embraced educating the marketplace as a key marketing approach for such a new industry and began publishing a quarterly periodical called the Forensic Media Journal with timely articles related to innovations in forensic presentations and demonstrative evidence. Working with experts in their respective fields, animations were created to explain a variety of topics impossible to film. Through my notoriety gained in the forensic animation community I published six how-to articles for 3D Artist magazine and co-authored 3 books for New Riders/MacMillan Publishing between 1996 and 1998.
To take advantage of the growth of the Internet I broadened the scope of services to include web application development and formed aVision Communications. I founded a partnering company in India with a long time business associate as a programming resource and I served as lead project manager/creative director. Work focused on 3D animation and interactive presentations using Flash and Director catering to the web and interactive needs in public involvement, legal, medical, fundraising, and corporate marketing. I led a team responsible for revenues over $1M from 1999 to 2002.
As the needs of my clients grew, I introduced video production services and formed Effective Digital Presentations to expand the ability to create compelling content. Since 2003 I have produced numerous award-winning videos for broadcast, marketing, fundraising and training. I have led all marketing and sales efforts as well as creative, directing, shooting and editing. Video shoots require management of a full crew. Multimedia projects required management of a team of designers and programmers.
My company evolution is a result of determining future needs of my clients. My recent work has generated sales of more than $1.2M since 2003. I consider my strongest characteristic to be my ability to work well with clients, production teams, and to lead a project to successful completion. I have the proven ability to successfully lead a project through all the unexpected challenges common to every project. Even a well executed plan will require rethinking and revised courses of action – many times requiring new solutions on the spot. Clients look to me to provide solutions that work and I have demonstrated the ability to lead a team to success, as well as to manage all phases of a project independently.
