Musician, scholar, and film director, Oleg Timofeyev was born in Moscow. Now living mostly in the US, he is one of the most prolific Russian guitarists outside of Russia. He is a best known for his contributions to the recovery and revival of the Russian seven-string guitar and its substantial and high-quality repertoire. To date, he has released 11 CD recordings on international labels (Germany, Canada, Hong Kong, and US) to highly appreciative reviews. Together with Sabine I. Gölz, he co-founded the International Academy for Russian Music, Arts, and Culture (IARMAC) as well as the Production Label ArbatFilm. He directed the documentary video "Frautschi" (2008) and he is currently working on several new documentaries on musical traditions in Ukraine. Together with Natalia Timofeyeva, he has composed and recorded several documentary film scores.
