Training/Teaching
I have designed and run a workshop on documentary film making for over 9 years now for the Irish audiovisual training body, Screen Training Ireland. The workshop was designed to give filmmakers an opportunity to learn conceptual skills from some of the finest documentary makers in the world, through classes, mentoring, screenings and analytical assessment of their individual projects. It has been a very successful workshop and many of Ireland’s most talented doc makers have participated as students. Over the years, I have brought over to Ireland many of the key documentary makers in the world and those involved in the documentary world internationally as commissioning editors, distributors, representative bodies and other funders. Our tutors over the years have included: Heddy Honigmann, Phil Grabsky, Victor Kossakovsky, Peter Wintonick, Peter Raymont, Molly Dineen, Geoffrey Smith, Boris Despedov, Cynthia Kane, Tom Koch, Yulie Cohen, DA Pennebaker, Jean Xavier de la Strade, Atteyat El Abnoudy, Rachel Wexler, Marc Isaacs, Hamid Rahmanian & Melissa Hibbard, Charlotte Gry Madsen, Margaret Brown, Outi Saarokoski, Sean McAllister and many more.

I taught at the National Film School, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin for a number of years in the area of film production (part-time) and have run an introduction to documentary workshop for a 6 years for one of the leading providers of film training in Dublin, Ireland, FilmBase. Over the years, I have also done occasional teaching in other colleges.
