PROFESSIONAL RESUME (John Vizzusi)
John Vizzusi came to Florida in 1990 from Northern California to establish himself in a new market in Florida and to help create a Indigenous Film Industry in the Sunshine State. Joining up with The Florida Motion Picture and Television Association (Central Florida Chapter) he quickly set out to co-Produce, Production Manage and Write The State Crystal Reel Award Program part of the FMPTA State Convention in Orlando that year which was later aired for broadcast on South-Eastern Regional PBS Affiliates..
Next he was hired by J. Anthony Walsh (St. John's River College Artistic Director) to Technically Direct as well as Lighting & Sound Director of The Official State Play of Florida in St. Augustine "The Cross & Sword" for a three month run. John's responsibility's for this large scale outdoor Theatrical Drama involved management of all props and staging of pyro effects, Lighting and Sound Design as well as management of the Technical Crew. The play involved a Cast & Crew of over a 100 members.
John is also a Filmmaker with several Documentary Films and Special Concept Videos under his belt. In 2001 he received the ADDY Award for his conceptual piece on the uncharted growth of the Independent Film Industry in Central Florida titled; "Behind the Indie Camera". Funded by The Economic Development Commission of the City of Orlando (EDC) and in Association with The Metro Orlando Film & Entertainment Commission the Film has been viewed by thousands of Industry insiders and reviewed as a must-see Film to enlighten other Producers wanting knowledge of the Movie & Television Market in Central Florida.
"Behind the Indie Camera" is now a TV Series currently running to a daily audience of a half a million in Central Florida. The Show is Produced by The VISION Network, a affiliate of Orange Television in Orlando and was awarded The Excellence in Governmental Programming of 2007 for the State of Florida. Vizzusi acts as Co-Producer, Writer and Segment & Assistant Director on the show. The show is Hosted by Ralph Clemente, Valencia Community College Film Technology Director and is shot at the WMFE (PBS) Studios in Orlando, Florida.
His other notable Films of Historic importance are: "Ocean Pond", the Story of The Massacre at Olustee which explores the largest civil war battle of Florida in 1864.
"From the Field's to Your Table" tells the story of migrant farmworkers in the South and gets to the bottom of the citrus industry in modern day times.
John is currently touring his latest film, ELECTRIC HEART in which is the almost completely forgotton story of the incredible Jazz musician, Don Ellis. He has received much acclaim for bringing this fantastic biography to the big screen and has sold out theaters internationally from 2007 to the present. Owner of Central State Productions, a Boutique Indie Film Company that specializes in the Historical Documentary Film genre, John is currently in Production of "The Radium Girls", the story of the doomed United States Radium workers of the 1920's and is in development of "Flagler, An Oil Man's Dreams", "Osceola, Chief of the Seminole? and "Filmed in Florida", the story of the History of Film, Television and the Entertainment Industry in the State.
John also works for many not for profit groups and has Produced and Directed for "Hear My Hands", Deaf Reporter Series. Emmy Winning Dolger Film's "Angels Among Us" and The Florida Chapter of C.A.I.R. with a PSA Series titled "End Torture Now".
Other notable contributions to the State of Florida have included adding content to The Florida State Statue in 2001 regulating the Talent Agency Licensing Laws to prevent scams and better protection for Actress's, Actors & Models. His sponsor was Robert Grimm of The Governor's Office of Film & Entertainment.
John is also a media-writer and his published articles and Feature Stories have appeared in "Focus In", "Create Magazine" and "Film Festivals.com".
