Variety's 'The Circuit' blog has just posted the news that HBO has paid in the low seven figures for US television rights to Amy Rice and Alicia Sams' untitled documentary on Barack Obama's presidential run. The duo has been shooting since 2006, and has had close access to #44, along with his friends, family and staff. Sam Pollard, the 2008 recipient of IDA's Avid Excellence in Editing Award, is editing the film.

Shooting is expected to continue through the inauguration for a 2009 broadcast premiere. The film is still seeking a theatrical distributor.
