The Nominees and Honorees for the Webby Awards were announced today. The online film and video category includes both "Documentary: Individual Episode" and "Documentary: Series" nominations. Links are below. Will post more later when I've had a chance to watch, but already I'm intrigued to see where the web & non-fiction intersect. I peeked at the Ian McKellan piece, which unites theater and interactivity, and am excited to see the NFB's Filmmaker in Residence project listed, which I profiled in an issue of DOCUMENTARY.
Also psyched that AT THE FEST, the webisode series produced by Crew Creative for iklipz.com that I host/write/produce, is a Webby Honoree. That means that we came in as part of the top 15% of the 8000 entries, so not too shabby ("It's just an honor to be nominated...I mean, um, honored...I mean, um, I just want to wear the pretty dress”). AT THE FEST is a magazine-style series that travels to film festivals and goes behind-the-scenes with indie filmmakers, actors, writers and festival programmers. You can check it out here.
