X-Dance 2010
X-Dance Celebrates its 10th Year!
This year's festival takes place January 21-26, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah, once again running concurrent with the Sundance Film Festival. We plan on making this, our 10th Anniversary, the best year ever! The attention from the industry and media will be huge! This will be a great year to participate as a filmmaker and an attendee. Submit your film now and make plans to be there!
· All entries must go through the X-Dance website (www.x-dance.com)
· You can pay entry fees directly online. Everything you need to know is on the site, including contact info if you have any other questions. Fill out the online form and print out a hard copy to send in with your DVD copies.
· We are requiring attendance by either the filmmaker or some other representatives (Athlete, Producer, etc.) that were directly involved in the making of the film. This will make a huge difference for you, your film and X-Dance.
Last year's festival had incredible high quality films! The big winners were:
Curt Morgan's cinematic masterpiece THAT'S IT, THAT'S ALL. It took top honors for "Best Film" and "Best Cinematography" setting a new standard of cinematography for the action sports film industry. The Hi Def and 35 mm stunning film, shot in New Zealand, Munich, Valdez, Tokyo, and Jackson Hole, features epic snowboarding footage and fluid camera work. Travis Rice also won "Best Athlete." THAT'S IT, THAT'S ALL is the highest grossing film in Action Sports filmmaking to date!
Dave Mossop won "Best Director" for his film THE FINE LINE, a clever and cinematic view of the world's best skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers and climbers interacting with avalanche specialists and depicting responsible back country action.
First-time filmmaker Dave Arnold from England won two awards for his film MENEJAR OMBAK (CHASING WAVES). One for "Original Score" and a second win as the "VAS Emerging Filmmaker." His soulful intimate film details the life of Dede Suryana, a Muslim surfer from a small fishing village in Indonesia who is on the fast track to being a top global contender.
Ty Ponder's BETWEEN THE LINES won "Best Documentary," a poignant look at Vietnam War through the prism of the surfing sub-culture.
"Best Biography" went to CLAY MARZO: JUST ADD WATER, directed by Jamie Tierney. This film explores the life and incredible surfing talent of Clay Marzo who has Aspergers Syndrome.

X-Dance received hundreds of entries from all over the world and the 40 top films made the competition last year. Half of the submissions were from outside the U.S. The quality and competition should be just as incredible this year!
X-Dance truly believes that the filmmakers in action sports are the most cutting-edge filmmakers in all of the entertainment industry! We believe that there will be a break out film that will come through the X-Dance Film Festival that will be the blockbuster that sends action sports filmmaking into Hollywood and mainstream recognition.
