Assistant Professor of Film and Media
The School of Film and Media Study at Purchase College seeks to fill a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2011. Teaching responsibilities include 6 classes plus extensive service obligations. Service Obligations will include:
- advising
- admissions consultation
- end of year reviews
- curriculum consultation with FBOS
- field trips/screenings

Qualifications: MA/MFA degree in a media-related discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience required. The ideal candidate will have recognized industry/professional experience producing documentaries for public, network or theatrical release. The candidate should have professional level technical experience with film and digital media, the ability to teach cinematography, editing or directing, familiarity with a diversity of documentary styles and approaches, and knowledge of documentary history, theory, research, and contemporary practice. Candidates should also have professional credits as a director and/or producer of feature-length documentaries (professional employment, broadcasts, awards). Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate interest and commitment to student learning and success, interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in the arts and the liberal arts. Demonstrated teaching excellence and experience in undergraduate and/or graduate programs with a strong commitment to contributing to the Film program and the School of Film and Media Studies will be essential.
