Producer/Director Jim Long of Lightcatcher Productions announced the development and launch of The Menorah Channel offering HD programming produced and shot on-location in Israel. The content is streamed via the increasingly popular Roku Player, a device that already enables millions of viewers to enjoy video-on-demand through the likes of Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and Hulu, as well as live events on standard definition and big screen tvs. The Roku Player is already in millions of U.S. homes and recently became available in Canada, with plans for a European launch. The Menorah Channel masthead, 'Shedding light on the people, history, culture, sights & sounds of Israel', according to Long, "Makes it clear that we're focusing on the most interesting aspects of the Jewish experience in modern Israel." The Menorah Channel, in addition to its free content, offers pay-per-view Israeli feature films and docs with English subtitles.

Long recently returned from a month-long stint in the country acquiring location footage and interviews for the Menorah Channel. Long says he's also developing two feature-length dramatic films designed to be shot in Israel.
