Hello,
We are "Mutts on a Mission." Our family of 4 humans and some rescued pets is traveling cross-country for one year, volunteering at animal shelters the whole way. We are on a mission to help animals. We are 6 months into our journey at this point, and we have traveled through 20 states. I have loads and loads of photos and footage. (I'm a photographer.)
Our Facebook page (Mutts on a Mission) attracts around 100 followers a day, and countless people have asked us if we are the subjects of a reality TV show or a documentary. Since we did not make the reality TV show happen in advance, we have decided to create a documentary of our journey.
The film we envision will be inspirational as well as entertaining. We have excellent working relationships with animal shelters throughout the country, especially the largest no-kill in the world, Best Friends, where we spent one month volunteering. We will educate the public about the problems shelter animals face today, but more importantly, we will teach them what they can do to help. I don't want this to be depressing, but rather upbeat and inspiring... a "feel good" about making this world a brighter place for animals. People are very interested in our journey, so the film will follow our journey, while educating.
We need an animal-loving, good-hearted documentary artist to help us sort out our footage, put it together beautifully and skillfully, and help us fill in the gaps. My husband and I are creative types, and we are also flexible. We are looking for someone we can work easily and well with, someone experienced, and someone who will work with us on a rather tight budget. So, there will be a "good will" element to this. A lot of the work will be on my end, sorting through our videos and photos, finding the most important clips, and working out all of the messages we want to present. Our mission in creating this film, as well as in journeying cross-country, is to help shelter animals. And we want them to benefit greatly from this film.
There is nothing similar out there. We are very excited to get the ball rolling.
There are many endlessly entertaining elements of our trip... We are traveling with two elderly dogs we adopted 16 years ago. We adopted a cat in L.A. a few months ago. We adopted a cockatiel in Utah a couple of months ago. The cat wants to eat the bird. Our small RV is too small for us to all sleep in it, so this has become a tour of hotels. We have to haul (sneak) 4 animals into every hotel. Endlessly comical.
Our family walks our talk...
We have worked in animal rescue for 16 years.
In our NC home, we were active in dog rescue and ran a guinea pig rescue out of our house.
For one entire school year, we created no trash. We called it "Trash Masterpeace." If we couldn't recycle it or reuse it, it didn't come into our house.
We are all vegetarians.
I have been an animal rights advocate for 20+ years.
Animals are our biggest passion (outside of family), and we want someone to come on board and help us help them. Please get in touch if you might be our person. :)

Great Project! Hope I Can Support Some

Hi Loulie
This sounds like a very heart warming and cool mission to document. I am currently busy with another project for the next 6 months but I am happy to help some from afar. I work as a post production and technical consultant for reality and documentary projects, so at the least I could give you guys some free advice on how to organize and manage your media/workflow etc while on a budget. Drop me a line if you want my two cents, and best wishes in your mission, it's projects like these that uplift and inspire viewers with the good side of the human experience, we always needs more! :)

Mutts on a Mission!!

Hello!

First, I really like the name of your documentary. It's adorable and I would definitely watch it. Second, you all sound absolutely lovely and it would be an honor to work with you (if you'll have me of course).
I adore animals of all kinds, especially the furry, waggy-tailed ones! I am a huge advocate of adoption from shelters and adoption agencies that focus on rescuing animals and choosing families that are willing to be patient, responsible and very loving with those rescued.

I am also all about educating others in a loving way. It is important to learn about the world and what each of us can do to benefit everyone/thing while also benefiting ourselves in a kind and nurturing way.

I would love to learn more about your travels and all the animals you've helped so far! And, if the position is still open, I am happily throwing my hat into the ring.

Mutts on a Mission..

Hello!

I just came across you're post in the means of "googling" a documentary position to experience while sitting in an airport in Brussels. I would absolutely love to be a part of this and it will be a great way for me to expand my horizons in the film industry and further develop my developing skills as an aspiring film maker. I am currently attending Humber College in Toronto, Canada for Film and Television Production. I am about to enter my third and final year. I feel as though I have enough experience with editing software, picture editing, and story making to fulfill this position to you're expectations. I have editing software and other relevant programs that will benefit you're film. I hope to get involved with editing, sound, directing and writing. I am very passionate about film making especially if there is a true story to be told. I adore animals and anything involving nature, international development, and the world in general.
Please contact me if you are interested. I would love to have contacted you but I am unable to find contact information.
My e-mail is gabbigreco@gmail.com

Look forward to hearing from you
