Description
Seeking an experienced producer to join “Vanguard,” Current TV’s correspondent-driven investigative documentary series. The globe-spanning production – covering stories in more than 50 countries and counting – is the winner of numerous accolades including a Peabody Award, a DuPont-Columbia Award and four Emmy nominations.

Producers will generate story ideas for hour-long documentaries and then work alongside fellow production staff and Vanguard correspondents in bringing those ideas to fruition, overseeing everything from pre-pro to post and every step in between.

The successful candidate will have an enterprising spirit and proven track record in documentary film and/or narrative storytelling with a keen interest in and passion for news, both domestic and international. We’re looking for someone who is equally adept in the field and in post. The ideal candidate has superior shooting skills and newsgathering instincts as well as the ability to come back from the field and synthesize source-material into thoughtful, well-constructed narratives. He/she must have a passion for important stories often ignored by other media outlets. You should be bristling with enthusiasm and fresh ideas about what you think Vanguard should be covering.

Languages are a plus, as is experience with Final Cut Pro.

Applicants must have several years experience working in film or tv with a strong narrative background.

Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of documentary storytelling experience,

In addition to top-class producing skills, the candidate has significant experience writing scripts for television and strong camera operating skills in the field.

Position requires someone with superior communication skills – both oral and written. We need someone who is extremely responsive and accurate.

Requires an outgoing personality that is used to interact with people at all levels of the organization.

Candidate must be able to provide leadership, clear direction and mentoring to junior production staff.
