The AMAL festival, which began in 2003, has been created with the aim to create collaboration in the audiovisual sector between Spain and the Arab world in order to promote both merging industries. The festival is organized by the Araguaney Foundation based in Spain. Feature films, documentaries or short films by an Arab filmmaker or co-produced with a producer from another country are eligible to be considered for inclusion in the festival. Films that are not produced or co-produced by an Arab filmmaker but which focus on issues related to the Arab world are also eligible for submission. Interested producers should send a preview copy of their film in VHS or DVD format, a completed entry form, the director’s C.V. and photograph in addition to press and publicity material if available. Premiere status is taken into account for all sections, and films that have not yet screened in the US are given priority. In order to be eligible for the International Feature Competition, your submission must be made by a first- or second-time filmmaker and must be at least a US premiere.
