Why is Equipment insurance so important?

A: As you know the most important element to filmmaking is the equipment. A filmmaker will need      to provide evidence of coverage to a vendor when renting equipment. What is usually required      is a certificate of insurance. In addition, many filmmakers own their own equipment which could      get lost or stolen while on a shoot.

Q: What does Equipment insurance cover?

A: Equipment insurance provides for property that moves from location to location from the perils      of:

          · Lost or Stolen

          · Damaged Equipment

If every policy covers the same items, why should I consider this program offered by DeWitt Stern Group?

A: This equipment insurance program provides:

          · Coverage for both owned and/or rented equipment for up to a limit of $250,000 for each.

          · Policies can be placed annually or short term.

          · The deductibles range from $500 to $2,500.

In addition this program will provide free access to experienced entertainment insurance specialists, loss control experts, and legal consultants.

Q: How do I gain access to this Association Program?

A: This equipment program was designed exclusively by DeWitt Stern Group and is unavailable in      the current insurance marketplace. Association members will need to complete an Equipment      Floater application available on the Association website. In addition to the signed application,      DSG will require a complete schedule of equipment. Once received, the information will be      submitted for review and quotation will be generated.

Q: What are the required elements to bind a quotation?

          · Signed Equipment floater application

          · Schedule of equipment including serial numbers and replacement values. (Please remember             to include sales tax into your replacement values)

Q: How soon can I expect a quotation?

A: With the completed application and all required elements submitted, the quotation process      should take 1 to 2 business days.
