Biography:

Zara Ahmed was exposed to film at a young age and feels passionately about the arts, and their ability to better society. She has earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts from Chapman University in Film Production and French, with a minor in Women’s Studies in 2009. Zara has worked on several student productions that have played at festivals all over the world. Her thesis film that she edited, entitled “When I’m Not Alone” has won awards all over the nation and was a recent winner of the Loreen Arbus Focus on disability presented by the Emmy Foundation. In March of 2009 Zara went to Brazil and was the co-director and co-editor “Ritmo do Morumbi”, a short documentary filmed in Sao Paulo.

During her undergraduate years, Zara spent a semester abroad in France where she interned at the Cannes Film Festival and discovered her love for French culture. For a year after graduating, she went to Lyon, France to teach English, and also worked as an assistant editor for a French production company called “Lesfilmentropes” cutting experimental shorts, translating, and generating English subtitles. Aside from her love for French culture, Zara loves working on projects focusing on social justice issues, namely disability rights, LGBT issues, and immigration. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
