Biography: Andrea studied art during her school years. She was also very close to her grandfather Bernardo Batievsky, legendary Peruvian filmmaker who produced the Golden Globe nominated film "Espejismo (Mirage)" in 1972. Also granddaughter of artist Nelly Franco and niece of influential sculpture artist, Marta Franco. Andrea inherited artistic talent from the Franco family, and the Batievsky passion for the lens. She enrolled in the University of Lima, where she entered the School of Communications. Two years later she transferred to the University of Miami’s Film School in Coral Gables, Florida. She worked in several student films and documentaries as director of photography and editor, to later work independently on "Quiero Volver". The film screened everywhere from New York to Lima, including obtaining the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the NY International Independent Film and Video Festival. The film was the first step to the development of her second feature documentary, so that Paolo’s story could be told in her next feature documentary "Paolo". "Paolo" is currently under post-production, scheduled to be finished by the end of 2008. Since 2005, Andrea has produced promo spots for Vh1 Latin America in Miami, FL, where she edited and helped produce Promax award winning promos for the network. She has also been on board at The Florida Room’s Documentary Film Festival since 2004. In 2006 she opened Shok’d Monkey Films, Inc, producing and editing different content and spots for networks Current TV, Zeal TV, and MTV Networks. Currently, Andrea is On-Air Producer for mun2 in Los Angeles, CA, a latin youth network from the NBC Universal family.
