I started in print and tv journalism in Australia, embarked on the obligatory Aussie walkabout around the world and ended up with a filmmaking career and family in Toronto, Canada. I have been producing, directing, writing, and story-editing docs and factual series for over 20 years, won many awards, advocated for my doc community through DOC Canada and was a founding board member and former co-chair of Hot Docs. I work in all genres as long as it is a good story with strong characters. Writing from the front to back pages of a newspaper early in my career broadened my interests from social and political issues, to history, sports and the arts. Proud to say everything we at Real to Real have done has won an award, including Canada’s Gemini, Australia’s AFI, major U.S. festivals even a Golden Panda from China. Doco credits include: Iris Chang: The Rape of Nanking; Ronnie Hawkins: Still Alive and Kickin’; The Bunny Years; Yours Al; Helen Caldicott: Portrait of a Dissident and Ryan’s Well.
