LESLIE ZEMECKIS
Zemeckis is a veteran of the stage. She is the co-author/creator of a one- woman burlesque that played throughout various clubs in LA, such as the Cinegrill, Luna Park and the famed Comedy Club. She wrote and produced the film “Staar” starring Carrie Fisher, Jefffrey Tambor and Fabio. Her short film “Enfants Terribles”, which she produced and stars in opposite Peter Facinelli and Chris Lloyd was a 2005/2006 official selection of the Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, and Chicago Film Festivals (amongst others). Her acting credits include DETERRANCE for director Rod Lurie, SACRIFICE with Michael Madsen, BLOWBACK with Mario Van Peebles, and POLAR EXPRESS opposite Tom Hanks. Television credits include PEPPER DENNIS, I MARRIED A MONSTER, 90210 and CAROLINE IN THE CITY. She co-stars in BEOWULF, directed by her husband Robert Zemeckis, starring Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie.
Her latest venture, the documentary BEHIND THE BURLY Q is an intimate look at old-time burlesque with over 100 hours of interviews with the former stars of the medium. She traveled across America for close to 2 years recording the men and women that worked on the burlesque wheel. Many had never spoken about their experiences before. Sadly, a dozen have since passed away. The film premieres in Dublin in Feb 2010, with a NY release April 23 at the Quad Cinema.
