
Professor Charles H. Harpole, Ph.D. is a career educator in film and media. He has taught film at universities such as SIU, Ohio State, U. of Ga, U. of Tex, and U. of Central Florida, and now at Mahidol University in Thailand. He is the creator and leader of the Cinema History Project which produced the ten-volume book series, History of American Cinema, published by Scribner and U. of Calif. Press.
Dr. Harpole has made a number of personal documentaries from shooting in Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan, Lao, Cambodia and Thailand as well as the USA. His primary work is centered on Tibetan Buddhism and its diaspora. His current project has collected testimonies from Tibetans who "walked out" of their homeland to seek religious freedom.
Dr. Harpole has had his work used by BBC, MSNBC, CNN, and other outlets in America and Asia. He operates as a documentarian from his home editing studio, preferring to do all writing, shooting, and editing on his works. His most recent finished video documentary is titled "Boy Buddhist of Bhutan."
Dr. Harpole is married to a native Thai lady and has one son living in America. His main avocation is amateur ham radio (HS0ZCW).
