Biography: Danielle grew up in Atlanta, Ga and studied photography since she was in high school. She attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts where her sculpture and installation work was exhibited in several shows including the Museum of Fine Art Boston and G.A.S.P Gallery in Brookline. While in Boston Danielle directed a short 16mm film, Almahrosa about the Boston Fish Pier which screened at the MFA, Boston and has continued to be shown in NYC. Her first feature "When Clouds Clear" was co-directed and produced with a childhood friend and collaborator, Anne Slick. "When Clouds Clear" is a feature documentary that takes place in a small town in Ecuador that lives in resistance to proposed copper mining projects that would level and destroy the local culture forever. The film has gone on to win several awards in film festivals across the globe and was supported by the New York State Council of the Arts and fiscally sponsored by Women Make Movies. "When Clouds Clear" is currently looking for distribution. For more information you may visit www.whencloudsclear.com
Her newest projects include another feature called Our Stories, Our Songs about the pending redevelopment of south San Francisco's Bayview Hunter's Point. This neighborhood thought of as stricken with violence, poverty, and high crime rates is also home to an important history in America. Home to the highest number of African American home owners the families possess a history that is repeated though out the history of America. From the farms of the south east to the shipyards of a 1940's San Francisco and on to the present day each generation tell their story of being black in America and how they have seen the neighborhood change for better and worse over the decades.
Danielle is also producing a short documentary directed by Ansley West in Jinja, Uganda. Located at the headwaters of the Nile River at Lake Victoria it was quickly recognized as an place with great economic opportunity and the Owens Fall Dam was built by the British in 1856. The dam sparked industrialization and became home to wealthy British families wh built mansions, yacht clubs, golf course and schools while the people of Uganda continued to live in poverty. Today, Jinja has once again become an economic hot spot for Uganda because of a new dam being built. Construction has just begun and the people of Jinja are seeing economic opportunity. The new dam presents Ugandans with a chance to rebuild Jinja and make it their own.
Currently Danielle is living and working in New York City. She is a cinematographer editor in addition to directorial skills.
