Why would a filmmaker join IDA at the age of 74? Because he learns something every day.
I've made an improbable variety of films for many venues over a 55 year career: They include historical biographies ("Andrew Jackson"), theatrical short subjects (Columbia Pictures' "Hello up There"), music videos (Jennifer Warnes, "Up the Elevator"), and national television spots (Julie Harris, "First Steps"). At the other end of the scale are experimental films like "The Follower," a radically visual parable about the hazards of compulsive behavior. Director of Special Projects and Senior Producer at UMCom Productions in Nashville for many years, I now run my own production company. Documentary is my first love--my most recently completed project is "An American Boy," a 30-minute memoir about growing up in Middle America in the late 1940s and early '50s. It blends live-action reenactments and vintage photographs to tell its true but irreverent tale. Think Norman Rockwell--with an edge.
