Biography: Elaine Madsen is an Emmy Award winning writer,producer, director. She is currently the director of "I Know a Woman Like That", being produced by her daughter Virginia Madsen's Title IX Productions and scheduled for release in 2011. The film won the "Humanitarian of the Year" award at the 2010 Rhode Island International Film Festival.

Her Emmy award winning documentary "Better Than It Has To Be" aired on both NBC and PBS.She is a published poet. Her newest book of poetry "Crayola Can't Make These Colors, From the Palette of a Life in Verse" is available on amazon.com; as is her co-authored non-fiction book "The Texan and Dutch Gas; Kicking Off the European Energy Revolution" recently published in the U.S. and The Netherlands.
Madsen has been a contributing editor for Venice Magazine in California and New York's In Theater Magazine.
She was an independent film producer in Chicago, the editor of the Book Works column for the Nit & Wit Cultural Arts magazine there and now resides in Los Angles.
