Biography:

Henry Nevison is an international award-winning writer, producer, director and editor with more than 30 years of experience creating television programs, educational documentaries, corporate communications and public relations presentations. Under Henry’s direction as a co-founder of InVision Communications, Inc., the company became one of the Philadelphia region’s premiere producers of documentary programming between 1988 and 1999. Since then, Nevison has primarily worked as a writer, director and editor for numerous television programs for a variety of networks as well as corporate presentations.
As a seasoned storyteller and interviewer, Henry’s ability to communicate with compassion and sensitivity combined with his infectious humor and wit allows him to build relationships with his subjects to elicit poignant, personal and heart-felt testimonies. He then crafts these testimonies together with his extensive musical background and powerful imagery to create moving, emotionally driven programs.
An avid collector of archival films and home movies of American culture including the largest collection of Philadelphia archival motion pictures, he has developed his collection into a commercial archive. As part of his interest and passion in the early days of the American Cinema, Nevison is developing a feature length documentary film on one it’s earliest pioneers entitled, “The King of the Movies”. A project website features a 5 minute trailer he wrote, produced, directed and edited. www.kingofthemovies.com

Henry Nevison received his degree in television and film production from Temple University in 1976, after which Henry worked as an independent filmmaker in New England for ten years. During his tenure there he wrote, produced and directed a wide variety of programs for corporate clients, educational institutions and public television audiences, winning numerous national and international awards.
Having produced dozens of broadcast documentaries on subjects ranging from the plight of the American Bald Eagle to unlocking the mystery of how North America was first peopled, Henry has worked within numerous scientific and historical disciplines. His diverse educational and professional experience, combined with his extensive science background, lend to Henry’s ability to understand complex scientific and technical issues, transposing them into informative and enlightening presentations.
Born into a family with a strong musical tradition, Henry brings to his projects an extensive music background. A student of piano performance and composition for more than seven years, Henry’s knowledge and understanding of the power of music and sound have become a trademark of his work.
In 1987, Nevison returned to his native Philadelphia and established himself as an innovator in both the design and production of film and video. With his diverse background in the arts and sciences he created programming for the pharmaceutical and health care industries, high technology and information industries, and historical documentaries and interactive video exhibits for museums.
Henry’s interest in historical film restoration and early home movies has led to a variety of projects for both corporate and educational clients. One of his landmark projects in this genre, Finding Philadelphia’s Past, is an interactive video installation produced as part of a semi-permanent exhibit for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

Other historical documentary work produced by Nevison includes: a ten-part interactive video exhibit for the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. entitled, Spirit of the Navy: Voices of Courage; a twenty-part documentary series entitled, The Indians of North America; a twenty-part historical documentary series entitled, US History: Origins to World War II. Nevison was the Project Director for a multi-part audio / visual project for the newly opened National US Infantry Museum based at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia. The project consisted of 14 separate video and audio programs.
Most recently, through a grant from the New Mexico Film Commission, Henry worked with the Taos Pueblo Reservation to produce a short film on the newly revealed connection between their forest fire fighting crews and the discovery of the wounded bear cub that became the living icon, Smokey the Bear.

Since 1999, Nevison has been involved extensively with The History Channel, A & E’s Biography Channel, HGTV and The Discovery Channel.
