Biography: Giovanni Calamari was born in 1970 in Milan, where he now lives and works. In 1996 he graduated from the Scuola Civica di Cinema e TV and after some experience as an assistant producer, he made his first documentary as a film-maker in 2001. He has been director of documentary reports, science programmes and short fiction for Mediaset. In 2005 his documentary film "Martha, memories of a witch" was awarded the “Autori da scoprire” prize offered by the Province of Bolzano for best story. In 2008 this documentary was awarded prize "Città di Imola" by Trento Film Festival for best italian documentary by italian author.
