Biography: 

DIRECTOR Joel Juarez recently produced and directed his feature film debut “GENERATION | LAST”, a Sci-Fi Global Warming Thriller. He is shopping “THE ADVENTUROUS CHEF” a cooking & extreme-sports adventure show to the networks with Executive Producer Maya Entertainment, and is in devolopment on his second feature film ”UNDER THE STRAWBERRY SUN”. 2010 greets Joel with an invitation to be part of the DGA Latino Mentorship Program 2010; a program through which he has shadowed directors on GREY’S ANATOMY, THE UNIT, and CRIMINAL MINDS.

Previously, he directed UNSENTENCED, a crime drama for TV Azteca America and is also directing music videos and commercials for various L.A. and Mexican Production Companies. Joel has established himself among the new filmmakers. Labeled an "Auteur-to-watch" by the Los Angeles Magazine after graduating from the prestigious UCLA School of Film & TV where he earned an MFA in Directing. His comedy, PELEA DE GALLOS, (The Cock Fight), was nominated for the Student Oscars 2005, premiered on Showtime Networks, and won Best Short Film at several International Film Festivals, and was awarded his second Director’s Guild of America Student Award.

Joel is a prolific filmmaker, his poetic film SinAzul, aired on PBS and was awarded his first DGA Award and the coveted UCLA Spotlight Award. His documentary EATING INSECTS aired on Showtime Networks. In 2007 he was invited to the Sundance Film Festival as part of Kodak’s Emerging Filmmakers Program.
