Brief Message to Members: Hello. I'm a successful Field Sound Recordist, but now I've branched out as an Independent Documentary Producer in order to do more storytelling. I look forward to learning more about other members, in addition to sharing stories about our projects. My business website is www.mariannalafollette.webs.com (as of Sept. 2012).
Biography: I am a 12-year-experienced, broadcast/network ENG/EFP, freelance field sound recordist in Washington, DC, with travels to surrounding states and nationwide. I work on high-end broadcast shoots for entertainment (E!, MTV, VH-1), documentaries (HGTV, Food Network, PBS, Natural History New Zealand), network news (NBC, Reuters, Fox Newschannel), corporate pieces (Colgate, General Motors), sports (ESPN, Speed Channel), nonprofit/NGO stories (AFL-CIO, Greenpeace) and other types of gigs and clients. I work in many different field setups, from run-n-gun documentary work involving hidden mics, walk-n-talks and recreations, to sit-down interviews, reporter standups, and liveshots. I own professional field sound gear, with much experience with equipment beyond what exists in my sound gear package. Regarding my documentary producer work, among other projects, I've been working for two years on a documentary profiling a religious cowboy's missionary's quest to travel from San Francisco to Jerusalem, by horse and car. He has completed the mission, and so have I; I filmed the cowboy in Washington, DC, then Paris, France, and lastly, in Jerusalem, Israel. I also completed other production work in Ireland (more filming) and other types of research as needed for other areas of his travels. More project descriptions to come...
