Biography: Kamar Ahmad (Simon) BACKGROUND Born in August 8th 1975, studied in Architecture, explored various aspects of creative production management in advertising & communication designing for 8 years as Creative Director, Art Director, Creative Writer, Graphics Designer, Campaign Designer, Photographer, etc. In 2008 he started a full-time film-making career, with his debut documentary film “STORIES OF CHANGE”. DEBUT FILM “STORIES OF CHANGE” is a real life documentary about 5 women aging from 16 to 60, coming from different walks of life, from different profession, religion and regions of Bangladesh. Different yet common in their dreams, these women face life's challenges with confidence and belief in their dreams and universal struggle of human existence. Acclaimed in different festivals as following without limiting: South Asia Documentary Film Festival 2008, Delhi, India Asiatica Film Medialle 2008, Rome, Italy TRAINING From January 2007 to July 2008 worked with Tareque Masud (“THE CLAY BIRD”, Director’s Fortnight Award, Cannes Film Festival 2002) for his upcoming full-length feature film “PAPER FLOWER” as the Chief Assistant Director. It’s a period film based around the year of 1947 partition of India, crossing borders, politics, religion, cultures, and riots in a contrasting set of Kolkata to rural Bengal. In these 18 months pre-production phase worked from research to detail execution of script, art department, costumes, set & location arrangement, casting, rehearsal, etc. Participated in various workshops, seminar as following without limiting: DIGITAL EDITING WORK SHOP by Catehrine Masud (www.matirmoina.com/) FILM HISTORY & LANGUAGE APPRECIATION by Tanvir Mokammel (www.tanvirmokammel.com/) FESTIVALS Participated in the following Film Festivals in 2008: South Asia Documentary Film Festival 2008, Delhi, India (Invited Participant) International Film Festival India 2008, Goa, India (Delegate Participant) WORKING PROJECTS “STOLEN YEARS” Based on a group of kids around a touring circus team and their journey of destiny. “SLAVE OF THE SUN” Based on the life and struggle of a lawyer who even after all his effort can’t leave the legacy of his being from a untouchable community. “THE LOST GUIDE” The story of a indigenous fighter whose life takes many folds through his journey as a rebel, militia, peacekeeper come poacher come guide, but yet to offer any true substance of life. OTHER ACTIVITIES WRITING: “A Father’s Diary”, monthly contribution, surrounding issues related to grooming children in nucleus families with over-exposure to consumer culture. PHOTOGRAPHY: Worked for different multinational corporates as well as a freelancer. HOBBY: Indian classical music in bamboo flute.
