Brief Message to Members:

I would like to initiate a documentary on the poet/memoirist W.D. Ehrhart, whose trilogy VIETNAM-PERKASIE: A COMBAT MARINE'S MEMOIR; PASSING TIME (about his Swarthmore College experiences after the war); and BUSTED: A VIETNAM VETERAN IN NIXON'S AMERICA has been sadly neglected by all but a passionate group of devotees. Martin Sheen and Ehrhart are friends: perhaps Sheen could provide narration. Ehrhart currently teaches at the Haverford School, PA, and lives in Philadelphia. He refused to option VIETNAM-PERKASIE because no producers would agree to his terms: namely that a film based on his memoir could not be altered for dramatic or cinematic effect. This startlingly honest and not-unreasonable stipulation in part has kept Ehrhart out of the eyes of a much wider audience, which his approximately twenty books and his personal witness to what in Vietnam is known as the "American War" both richly deserve.
