Director/Cinematographer/Producer Larry Peter has been in the film industry since 1985.
His first project was a documentary on the renovation of Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, “Urban Eden.” This film won the Gold Award at the Film Festival of the Americas. Between 1985 and 1993 he produced national commercials for Coca Cola, Crisco, Anheuser-Busch, Yamaha, Popeyes Chicken and many other national and regional clients. Also produced were documentaries on llama ranching industry in Louisiana and a biographical documentary of renowned artist/jewelry designer, Mignon Faget. His advertising work has been the recipient of dozens of ADDY and TELLY awards.
In 1993 Larry “retired” from the traveling involved in production to devote his time to raising a family and opened a post-production company in New Orleans, providing editing, music composition and special effects to the film industry. In 2005, following hurricane Katrina, he moved with his family to Indiana and in 2009, with his children grown, once again began directing and filming. Along with projects for local businesses and New Orleans clients, he produced a documentary in 2010, “The Art of Living,” currently airing to rave reviews on Indiana PBS affiliates, with strong DVD sales.
Since February 2010, Larry has been filming They Wore the Red Suit, a documentary on the vocation of professional Santas, and their origins in the 1930s. Scheduled release is November 2012.
Other current projects include a commissioned documentary for Voith-Siemens on the ongoing construction of the largest hydroelectric project ever undertaken on the Ohio River, and a series of oral histories depicting life in the rural Midwest during the early 1900s.
