In 1988 LD began his career as a producer,appearing as the host of Imagine, a Seattle based talk show which he also produced. Then through an international co-production deal with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, LD conceived and produced Beyond The Line, an award winning hour-long weekly series exploring metaphysics, new science and environmental issues. The series aired in the United States and Canada.
Moving to Los Angeles LD served as a writer on Healthy Living with Jane Seymour which won a Telly Award for educational programming.
More recently LD served as the president of the pop star Jewel’s production company Gravitas Entertainment for which he produced Humphrey’s By the Bay for DirecTV which is currently marketed as a DVD Jewel Live. He also served as executive producer on the DayBreak Song music video, the ClearWater PSA that aired globally on NetAid and three “Making Of” videos for Jewel. He served as a producer on Jewel’s three most recent music videos and the video enhancement of the albums, This Way and 0304.
LD produced a tour for Soul City Café, an emerging artist program in 2003 and twenty-five videos from that tour. Additionally, he co- produced the first Soul City Café album and Soul City Café Music Quest – a concert featuring new musical artists – a broadcast of which aired on Comcast and on XM radio.
Currently, LD is co-owner of trick dog films a full service film and video production company. He produced Simple Song of Freedom – an award winning music video showcasing a choir of talented students from Palm Springs intercut with images of Afghan children. He is producing SEVEN VEILS a documentary film about a changing Islam told through the stories of seven remarkable Muslim women from around the world. And he is producing ‘for my wife …’ a documentary film about marriage equality which focuses on Charlene Strong’s journey. Having barred from being in her wife’s hospital room as she lay dying Charlene took her grief and became an activist and noted voice in the marriage equality battle.
