Biography: Marianthe moved to Los Angeles from the beautiful high desert region of New Mexico ten years ago, bidding adieu to mountains, ice-cream stuffed sopapillas, and her small-town life. She headed west to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music and whatever else came along the way.
Complimenting her life-long fascination with playing and writing music, she obtained a B.A. from Loyola Marymount University and has continued to devote considerable time and effort to the art of writing music. While in college, she studied with Dr. Mark Saya, Dr. Paul Humphreys, and while living in Lisbon, Portugal, Ivan Moody.
A multi-instrumentalist from the age of five, she studied piano, violin, guitar, string bass, xylophone and briefly dabbled with the saxophone and cello. She has written music for many video game titles appearing across several platforms including casual, mobile, online games as well as Nintendo DS games. She has also written music for films, including the feature film “Trinity,” directed by Bryan Caron, as well as concert works and incidental music for websites.
She is currently finishing her Master’s Degree in Music Composition from California State University Long Beach, writing her thesis on a 15 minute chamber work titled, “The Last Taste of Carbon,” and John Adams’ piece, “The Chairman Dances.” She has studied composition with Perry La Marca, Dr. Martin Herman, and Dr. Carolyn Bremer while at CSULB. She is able to write music in many styles, and enjoys stretching her musical boundaries when something seems a bit unfamiliar.
