Biography: Marlo Bendau, Director, Writer, Producer Marlo is an award-winning producer, director and WGA writer who's experience in the industry spans thirty years. Her independent film "Rising: The Art and Life of John Waddell" was completed in late 2010 and is being entered in 2011-2012 documentary film festivals. (http://www.rising-thefilm.com/) Her first independent film, "Dreams Under Fire" about Los Angeles area gangs won Best Documentary, the Gold Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival in 1991. Her film "Auto Obsession" won second place at the 1992 Houston International Film Festival. She directed 6 of 10 films for the PBS series "Works in Progress" about contemporary American artists, funded by the Annenberg/CPB project in 1995-1997. She was the recipient of an ITVS LINCS project grant with KCET-TV for the emmy award winning documentary "Dreams on Fire" in 1998. She directed the PBS special "Dangerous Friends, Friendly Enemies" about the deadly Hantavirus in 1999. She was executive producer of " First Response" a special depicting the daily drama of firefighters' lives created for USA network in 1997. In 1989, she was the co-creator and executive producer of "Earthbeat," a weekly program focused on solutions to environmental problems that aired on TBS. She has directed educational documentaries in french and spanish for The McGraw-Hill Publishing Companies and films for several museums including The Getty Center in Los Angeles. She began her career in 1977 as a "PM Magazine Host", in 1980 a reporter for the CBS Network News and in 1987 as a producer for NBC's Today Show.
