Mr. Tim VandeSteeg is an award-winning Producer, Director and Filmmaker with a powerful and unstoppable attitude and work ethic. He is the CEO and Founder of Indiewood Pictures, Inc, an award-winning independent film development and production company. His greatest passion is filmmaking.
Over the past decade and a half he has successfully developed, directed and produced award-winning narrative and documentary films, national and local commercials, promotional television shows, promos, interstitials and behind-the-scenes segments for such high-profile clients and promotional partners as ABC, Hallmark Entertainment, ABC Family, SUBWAY, Sun Country Airlines, Minnesota Twins and LifeTime Fitness.
Tim has directed, produced and written independent feature films including; the award-winning and critically acclaimed documentary My Run, narrated by Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton, the indie love story Fall Into Me and the indie golf comedy Mulligan.
Tim’s recent success is the inspirational documentary My Run, which has made an impressive and powerful impact on the film festival circuit as a festival favorite, winning awards and accolades, receiving national press and positive reviews, selling out theaters and receiving standing ovations throughout the festival circuit. My Run has won 8 “Best Documentary” Awards and received the “Family-Friendly Seal” and a “5 Dove” rating from The Dove Foundation.
As an independent filmmaker, some of Tim’s strongest traits are persistence, creativity, enthusiasm and a passion for the entire filmmaking process. Tim approaches filmmaking with what he calls the “Rocky Balboa Attitude”, as long as you keep fighting and you don’t quit, you never fail. It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, smacked around or beat up; as long as you don’t stay down you always have an opportunity to succeed. The key is to be persistent, passionate and persistent.
His experience includes creative, production and business: from concept and story development, to screenwriting, to building successful business plans and sponsorship presentations, which have led to the securing of financing, sponsorship and distribution for independent feature films, financed media production companies and secured commercial clients. Tim has been featured in national newspapers, magazines and books as; The New York Times, Moviemaker Magazine, Film Slate, Daily Variety, Hollywood Reporter, The Examiner, TNT Roughcuts, Minneapolis Star & Tribune and the book The Writer’s Guide to Hollywood.
In 1999, Mr. VandeSteeg directed and produced his first motion picture Mulligan, which set new standards in the entertainment industry by being the first feature film to be backed by Subway Restaurants (second largest restaurant chain in the world) “Tim VandeSteeg is one of the most persistence people I have ever met”, said Fred DeLuca, Founder of Subway Restaurants. Mulligan secured over 50+ corporate sponsors including LifeTime Fitness, Adidas, Taylor Made, Pepsi and Sun Country Airlines.
In 2001/2002, Tim worked as a Producer/Writer for Met/Hodder - an elite media and marketing company where he wrote, produced and directed projects for such high-profile companies as: ABC, IMAX, Disney, ABC Family and Hallmark Entertainment. Mr. VandeSteeg directed and produced promos for ABC’s Capital City (starring Peter Fonda and Tom Berrenger), Diversity and Less Than Perfect (starring Andy Dick and Sherri Shepherd), as well as ABC’s $80 million dollar mini-series Dinotopia (staring Wentworth Miller) and field produced the behind-the-scenes of the Music Man (starring Matthew Broderick, Kristin Chenowith, Molly Shannon and produced by Oscar nominated and Emmy award winning Producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan).
Currently, Tim is in development and production of multiple exciting projects that include the uplifting documentary The Eyes of Thailand, the narrative motion picture Pushing Life, the western-thriller Epitaph and the animated feature Nuts. Tim lives every day by his motto “Be Powerful, Be Unstoppable”.
