Biography: Najaa Young has a MFA in Film Production from Florida State University’s Graduate Conservatory of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts and a BA in Theatre Arts from Chatham College. Her graduate thesis film, Coochie, which she wrote and directed, has appeared in numerous film festivals worldwide including, Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, Hamburg International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and the Pan African Film Festivals of Los Angeles, Atlanta and Denver (where it also won the Best Student Film Award). Najaa has also written, directed and choreographed several productions for Karamu House’s Theatre Outreach Performance Series, Cleveland Public Theatre and Cuyahoga Community College Dance Department. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA where she is developing several screenplays and a documentary, American Africans.
