Biography: As an artist manager, Nancy Meyer has coordinated all aspects of her clients’ careers including; recording, publishing, publicity, touring, educational, symphony and performing arts engagements. Out of these activities, her current responsibilities have grown to encompass the complex world of royalty management, overseeing royalty income for artists’ heirs. She is also active in the area of Music Supervision and Rights Clearance. With partner Rick Bates, she formed music management company Bates Meyer, Inc., in 2001 with a focus on Music Supervision, Artist Management and Music Clearance (www.batesmeyer.com). Prior to starting her own firm, Meyer was a principle in The Cameron Organisation, Inc., for over 20 years. The Cameron Organisation is an artist management firm, which specializes in intellectual property recovery. Her responsibilities there included working with the estates of Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed and Howlin’ Wolf. Meyer took charge of client royalty recoveries, which entailed copyright research, contract negotiations and maintenance of royalty accounts related to recorded masters, musical copyrights, merchandising, name and image rights. From 1991 to 2001 Meyer was also responsible for the music publishing and tour activity support for guitar legend Buddy Guy. Prior to entering the field of music management, Meyer worked in radio and television. This included a stint as a writer at WIFR-TV (CBS affiliate) in Rockford, Illinois and Public Affairs Assistant at WOPA-AM in Chicago, Illinois. She was also a disc jockey at college station WKDI-FM. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (emphasis Radio/TV/Film) from Northern Illinois University with a Minor in Journalism. She was a LOS ANGELES MUSIC AWARD recipient in 2000, in recognition of contributions to the multicultural heritage of music for youth and the community.
