Biography: Oren Bitan is a documentary producer and distributor, and an attorney specializing in intellectual property and civil rights. Until recently, Oren was an associate in the Los Angeles office of Morrison & Foerster, one of the world’s leading international law firms, where he represented video game publishers, musicians, film festivals, documentary filmmakers, and web-sites. Oren earned his law degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, where he participated in the Law & Technology Moot Court (a joint program with Caltech). Oren externed for The Honorable Harry Pregerson in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, The Honorable Nora M. Manella in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California. In 1999, Oren launched HIQI Media (Hit It 'n Quit It), a film distribution company specializing in music documentaries. Notable films he distributed through HIQI Media, and his prior position at Seventh Art Releasing, include the backyard wrestling documentary The Backyard, the Ben Harper concert film Live at the Hollywood Bowl, the Smashing Pumpkins documentary Full Circle, the Radiohead documentary Meeting People is Easy, the Academy-Award winning documentary The Long Way Home, and the Oscar-nominated The Farm.
