
I am a director and editor based in Los Angeles enjoying 15 years of experience working on a variety of non-fiction programs ranging from web videos, mobile media, trailers, TV specials, to long form documentaries for national broadcast.
I am the owner of De Facto Fiction Films, a film, television, and multimedia production company providing various production services and specializing in biographical and historical programming, performing and visual arts, and social documentaries.
I was recently the editor on the feature-length documentary “Bringing King to China” produced by Access Productions. I was also the editor on the two-hour special, “Freshwater Seas” for WTVS-TV and the editor/researcher on “Culture of Hate” for KPBS-TV both appearing on American Public Television. My first long format documentary, “Herbert's Hippopotamus” about philosopher Herbert Marcuse, was broadcast and screened internationally, and selected for the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival, and I have recently produced and directed several HD documentaries for PBS including “On Detour with Manny Farber” about painter and film critic Manny Farber. My work has received recognition with over 50 awards, including 6 Emmy awards, 11 Emmy nominations, DuPont-Columbia, and 10 Telly awards.
I am also a visiting lecturer in film and video production at the University of California, San Diego teaching courses in documentary production, narrative media, and non-linear digital editing.
