Biography: ROBERT SEOANE BIOGRAPHY Robert Seoane was born in Lima, Peru and came to Miami, Florida as an infant with his mother and grandmother in the early 1960’s, just as the first Cuban influx entered the United States. Since he was a child, he dreamed about being in movies and TV and, at age fifteen, took it upon himself to find a job at a nearby TV station, WCIX, Channel Six. He started as a weekend switchboard operator and, for the next ten years, managed to work his way up through the ranks, doing everything from News Camera to editing movies and TV shows for 30 second promos. In 1983, he made the move from Promotion Producer at WCIX to Head Promotion Director for fledgling Spanish language television station Channel 23. There, he quickly rose through the ranks and wound up, still in his twenties, not only handling the entire Promotion Department for the Univision network, but producing Spanish language television’s biggest monster hit, “Sabado Gigante”. He decided to go on his own as a freelance Producer/Director in 1986. During those last twenty years, he has produced and directed literally hundreds of local and national TV commercials in English and Spanish for a wide range of clients such as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Toyota, General Foods, Marshalls Department Stores and many many more. He’s also worked with renowned legends of Hispanic entertainment such as Celia Cruz, Ricardo Montalban and Edward James Olmos. During that time he also produced and directed several Spanish language programs such as “Nuestra Moda” an annual fashion show showcasing Hispanic designer’s such as Oscar De La Renta and Carolina Herrera and their latest lines. He’s also been heavily involved in producing and directing promotional campaigns for practically every Miami politician in the last twenty years, including Commissioners, Mayoral candidates, House Representatives… up to Florida Senator Mel Martinez as well as the current State Speaker of the House, Marco Rubio. Milestones in his television career include a three hour documentary named “Heroes Hispanos” that aired in Spanish on the Telemundo Network and in English on the History Channel. “Heroes Hispanos” deals with the tens of thousands of Hispanic-American soldiers who fought United States’ wars from the American Revolution to Operation Desert Storm. Seoane won two Regional Emmy Awards for “Heroes Hispanos”, adding to his other 11 Emmy Awards he had won during his career as Producer, Director and Editor, making him one of the most Emmy awarded individuals in the Southeastern United States and the rest of the country. Currently, the PBS network has accepted Mr. Seoane’s idea for a sequel to air on PBS in late 2009. At this moment, we are actively seeking funding. In the last ten years, Seoane has focused on his ultimate endeavour, to write and direct motion pictures. To date, he has written four scripts, including his latest, “Champagne King”. When he was very close to directing his first film back in 2000 and that fell through, he wrote a quick, low-budget thriller that he knew he could do for practically nothing. It was titled “CHAT”, and it dealt with a man’s obsession on the chat lines getting him into such hot water that he becomes involved in a murder. He produced and directed the movie for less than $15,000 and found actor Antoni Corone (“Oz”, Bad Boys I and II, “Out Of Time”) to play the lead. Unfortunately, because of the paltry budget, he never bothered selling the film, even after it won the Audience Award at the Made In Miami Film Festival in 2003. Antoni Corone however, was so enthralled with the script that he promised Seoane he would find him a producer to shoot the film again at a decent budget. Sure enough he did just that, and in late 2005, Robert Seoane was able to direct “Chat” again for a much more reasonable, yes still small budget. To date, it’s been completed (although Seoane was not involved in the editing process) and is currently seeking distribution. As of this writing, Mr. Seoane is completing the Director’s Cut of his movie. “Champagne King” is his latest script and shows his maturity as a writer. Once again mixing suspense with humanity and humor, “Champagne King” reflects the city of Miami, its flavor and its inhabitants as only a native Miamian can.
