Sharon Zurek
Editor - Producer

Sharon Zurek is the owner of Black Cat Productions in Chicago and enjoys working on independent features and social issue documentaries, especially those focusing on strong women and queer content. She has an extensive background in film production and postproduction with more than thirty years of experience.

She edited and co-executive produced the feature, Hannah Free, starring Sharon Gless, which is enjoying national and international distribution. She cut many features, including The Trouble with Dee Dee, Bad City, Stray Dogs, The Chameleon and many short films such as the award winning Flying, Won Ton and The Sisterhood of Night.

She was the Post Production Supervisor on The Merry Gentleman, Michael Keaton’s directorial debut that premiered at Sundance in 2008 and John Malkovich’s locally produced Drunkboat.

Sharon most recently produced and edited the feature documentary, A Mind in Quicksand: Life with Huntington’s with her good friend Kim Lile who served as director. The documentary explores what happens when you are diagnosed with a life-threatening disease in the prime of your life.
